So up to this point I figured that we would have a VERY late harvest this year due to “Kitten infestation 2009″ (not ours, our girls are both fixed and indoors) a feral momma decided to have her litter of 12 (TWELVE) in our yard and camped out there for some time (till this week actually).. while the babies were cute (aren’t all kittens) they weren’t sweet and cuddly and well… KEETANS. Anyhow that ’s another story for another time. The beasties tore the crap out of my beds that had seedlings going well (they were going well before the bed became a litter box/playground). The only thing they didn’t touch was the Pepermint plant and my broccoli and corn. Oh and the tomato plant and my potatoes in the 5-gal buckets!!
Which I dug into today as the plants had died back and lookie what I got
They aren’t really that huge… but five perfect red potatoes
And then the little teeny ones are going back in the dark space to go to seed… once more..
So not such a bad start to the season… I am just happy we live in an area with a climate that is growth/harvest friendly year round
